Our Musicians
Violins
Alvaro deGranda, Concertmaster, played in The Cleveland Orchestra for 40 years and was assistant concertmaster for 31 of those years. Born in Cuba, he studied at The Curtis Institute of Music and in Europe with Yehudi Menuhin and Nadia Boulanger. He has performed extensively in the United States, Europe and Latin America.
Stacy Lesartre, associate concertmaster, is currently concertmaster with both the Fort Collins Symphony and Cheyenne Symphony. She has played in the Houston Symphony, Denver Chamber Orchestra and in numerous chamber ensembles.
Leslie Sawyer, principal second violin, served as concertmaster of the Eugene, Oregon, Symphony and is currently principal second violin with the Fort Collins Symphony. She has played extensively with the Colorado Symphony, Central City Opera and numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles.
Susie Peek
Gyongyver Petheo, Boulder Philharmonic
Debbie Holland has held positions with the Tucson Symphony, the Phoenix Symphony and the Pittsburg Opera and Ballet orchestras. She performs regularly with the Colorado, Cheyenne, and the Colorado Springs symphonies.
Hae Jung Kim is acting assistant concertmaster of the Fort Collins Symphony.
Desiree Cedar-Suarez, has played in Michael Tilson Thomas’s New World Symphony and plays in the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and other regional orchestras.
Leslie Stewart is on the faculty at Colorado State University and has played with the Virginia Symphony and Cabrillo Festival.

Violas
Barbara Hamilton-Primus, Principal Viola, is currently Artistic Director and Violist with the Colorado Chamber Players. Barbara has played as principal violist and soloist with the Colorado Symphony, the Orquesta Ciudad de Barcelona, the Orquesta de Valencia (Spain) and the Eastern Music Festival. She was a member of the New York Philharmonic for one season.
Mary Cowell, viola, is on leave, having won a position with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.
Mary Harrison is principal viola of the Boulder Philharmonic.
Summer Rhode is assistant principal viola with the Boulder Philharmonic.
Ethan Hecht is principal viola of the Fort Collins Symphony.
Margaret Miller was a member of the daVinci String Quartet.
Cellos
Carole Whitney, principal, served as Assistant Principal Cellist with the New Jersey Symphony for 22 years and has played with the orchestras of the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet, Santa Fe Opera, and has extensive chamber music experience.
Heidi Mausbach is Principal Cellist in the Greeley Philharmonic.

Oboe
Lisa Martin is Principal Oboe of Central City Opera and the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, Ms. Martin has played Principal Oboe with the Cheyenne Symphony, the Colorado Ballet and the Denver Municipal Band. During the 2000-2001 Season, Ms. Martin played Assistant Principal/second oboe with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Other notable performances include solo performances at Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center with the Alexander Schneider String Seminar.
Elizabeth Hardin is principal oboe of the Boulder Philharmonic.

Dawn Kramer
Timpani
Hiroka Hellyer was a gold medal winner of the All Japan Ensemble Contest, Percussion Division (1995) and Kansai Ensemble Contest, Percussion Division (1997). She earned her Masters degree in 2006, with the distinction of the most outstanding graduate student in performance at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music. Mrs. Hellyer has subbed in the Colorado Symphony.
Piano
Tamara Goldstein D.M.A. University of Colorado/Boulder, MM The Juilliard School, BM Indiana University/Bloomington, enjoys a diverse career as a chamber musician, teacher, and soloist. She is currently Artist-in-Residence and Assistant Professor at Metropolitan State College of Denver. Known especially for her collaborative work, Tamara has performed in duo recitals with renowned concert artists such as Carol Wincenc, Karl Kraber, Jesse Levine and CSO concertmaster, Yumi Hwang-Williams and opera singers Judith Christin and Curt Peterson.
